What you get
Every night, on its own
The scan runs automatically once a day. Want to check right away, for example after a clean-up? Start an extra scan with Scan now.
Your whole web hosting
We scan websites, WordPress installations, uploads and your own scripts with a recognised open source virus scanner with up-to-date signatures.
Reads only, changes nothing
The scan never deletes or moves files by itself. You see the findings in the control panel and decide what happens.
How to get started
Open Malware scan
Find Malware scan under Security in the control panel. It shows the scan schedule and the time of the latest scan.
Read the result
Clean means nothing was found. Malware found means at least one file looks like known malicious code.
Clean up
Remove or fix the file, or restore a backup from before the file appeared. Then run Scan now again to check.
Good to know
You do the clean-up
We do not remove malware automatically, and you cannot count on getting an email about a finding. Check the security overview regularly, especially after bigger changes. The scan always covers the whole web hosting, not one website at a time.

Questions and answers
Does the scan slow my website down?
No. It runs at night on the server, not in your visitors' browsers.
What do I do if something is found?
Follow our guide to cleaning up after a hack. Often the quickest fix is to restore a backup from before the file appeared, then update plugins and change passwords.
How do I avoid malware?
Keep WordPress, plugins and themes up to date, use strong passwords and two-step login, and delete plugins you do not use. Most attacks come through outdated software.
