What you get

  • One-time code from your phone

With two-step login, someone needs both your password and your phone. Any authenticator app with one-time codes works, such as Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator and Bitwarden.

  • Backup codes

When you turn on two-step login, you can get backup codes that each work once. They get you in if your phone goes missing.

  • Passkeys

A passkey lives on your device or in your password manager and is unlocked with your fingerprint, face or PIN. It cannot be guessed and does not work on fake login pages.

How to get started

  1. Open Login and security

Open Account in the control panel and find the Login and security card.

  2. Turn on two-step login

Scan the QR code with your authenticator app, enter the code and keep your backup codes somewhere safe.

  3. Add a passkey

Press Add passkey, give it a name and approve on your device. Next time, choose Log in with passkey.

Good to know

It protects your control panel login

Two-step login and passkeys apply to logging in to the control panel. Webmail and email apps use the mailbox's own password. We do not send codes by text message, as they can be intercepted. Passkeys need a recent browser and device, and your password still works as a fallback.

Questions and answers

Does it cost anything?

No. Two-step login and passkeys are included with every Sitewig account, even the free one.

What if I lose my phone?

Log in with a backup code, turn two-step login off and on again with your new phone. If you have neither phone nor codes, write to support from your login email.

Does Sitewig store my fingerprint?

No. Your fingerprint and face stay on your device. We only receive proof that the key was unlocked.

Should my guest users use two-step login too?

Each user turns it on for their own account. We recommend that everyone with access to your account does.
