What you get

No ordering, no CSR files and no yearly bill for certificates.

  • Let’s Encrypt on every site

    Your domain and its www address get a valid certificate as soon as the domain points to us. That includes extra websites and subdomains.

  • Encrypted email

    Webmail, IMAP and SMTP run encrypted over TLS to our mail servers, which have valid certificates on their host names.

  • Automatic renewal

    Let’s Encrypt certificates are valid for up to 90 days. We renew them automatically in good time – at the latest 30 days before they expire.

  • HTTPS by default

    Visits to http:// are sent to https:// with a permanent 301 redirect, so nobody lands on an unencrypted page.

  • HSTS

    Our own services and parking pages send HSTS. We do not switch it on automatically for your own site, because it locks browsers to HTTPS for a year – contact support if you want it.

  • Modern TLS

    Only TLS 1.2 and 1.3 with strong ciphers – the same setup on all our servers.

What your visitors see

A valid certificate is what the browser checks before it shows your site without warnings.

  • No “Not secure”. The address bar shows https:// and the browser’s secure-connection icon instead of the “Not secure” warning.
  • Certificate details. If a visitor clicks the icon, it says the connection is secure and that the certificate was issued by Let’s Encrypt for your domain.
  • Better for SEO and forms. Google prefers HTTPS, and browsers warn about forms and logins on pages without encryption.

How it works

    Point your domain to Sitewig

    Buy the domain from us, or point your existing domain to our name servers or IP addresses.

    We issue the certificate

    Once DNS points to us, we automatically fetch a certificate from Let’s Encrypt – usually within minutes.

    We keep it renewed

    The certificate renews automatically well before it expires. You can follow its status under the domain in the control panel.

Questions about SSL

Does SSL cost anything?

No. SSL is free and included in every plan – including Free and the email plans.

Can I get a wildcard certificate (*.mydomain.com)?

No, we do not issue wildcard certificates. Instead, every subdomain you create automatically gets its own free certificate, so the result is the same for your visitors.

Do you sell OV or EV certificates?

No, we do not sell OV or EV certificates. Browsers today show the same secure connection for every valid certificate, and the encryption is the same. If you have an OV/EV requirement, contact support and we will find a solution together.

How long until SSL works?

Usually a few minutes after the domain points to us. If DNS has just been changed, it can take up to a couple of hours to propagate.

What if my site shows “mixed content”?

Then the page loads images or scripts over http://. Change the addresses to https:// – in WordPress you can search and replace the old addresses.

Does SSL also work with the CDN?

Yes. With the CDN, the www address also gets a Let’s Encrypt certificate, and the connection from the CDN to our server is encrypted.
