At Sitewig a domain costs the same as we pay for it ourselves at the registrar Openprovider – with no mark-up. The price depends on the domain's extension, and we update it daily when the registrar's prices change. For some extensions, renewal costs the same as the first year; for others it is slightly higher or lower.

The prices follow the registrar's prices and can therefore change from day to day. The full, up-to-date list of all extensions is on Domain prices. The price is also shown on sitewig.com/priser under Domain prices per year. Other extensions, e.g. .org, .io or .shop, can also be ordered – the price is shown next to each available domain when you search on sitewig.com/eget-domaene.

How renewal works

  1. Step 1: The domain is registered

The domain is valid for one year at a time from the day it was registered. That day is the domain's anniversary.

  2. Step 2: Sitewig renews in good time

About 30 days before the expiry date, Sitewig renews the domain automatically at the registry. You do not need to do anything.

  3. Step 3: You are charged for the new year

The renewal is charged for the new domain year at the renewal price that applies on that day, and appears on the company's invoice from Sitewig.

  4. Step 4: See the dates on the domain

Open Domains → My domains and click the domain. The Renewal and payment card shows Registered, Expires and Renewal. If it says Renews automatically, everything runs by itself.

Frequently asked questions

Does the price go up after the first year?

It depends on the extension. We do not offer a low introductory price that goes up afterwards – you always pay our cost price. But for some extensions the registrars have one price for registration and another for renewal, e.g. .se and .org. If the registrar changes its prices, our prices follow, and you can always see the current price on Domain prices.

Why are the domains so cheap?

We add nothing on top of the registrar's price. You pay the same for the domain as Sitewig pays Openprovider, shown in your currency.

Is the domain free with a plan?

Domains are paid for separately. The plan gives you web hosting, a website and email, among other things, while the domain has its own price per year at cost price. If you move a domain here, the transfer is free at the start when you have a plan.

Where do I see what I have paid?

Your invoices are in the control panel under Billing. The domain has its own line, both at registration and at renewal.

What happens if I have an unpaid bill?

If the company is blocked because of missing payment, Sitewig does not renew the domain. It changes to Expired on the expiry date, and the setup is kept for 30 days, so you have time to pay and get the domain back. Read My domain has expired – can I get it back?
